The theme of the opening
ceremony is ¡°Beautiful Union,¡±
which celebrates the union between
King Kim Suro and Hur Hwangok
Busan of Gaya through a reenactment.
The Gaya Kingdom possessed a
region of ancient Korea; this
ceremony, then, both celebrates
Korea¡¯s past and the future
of Asia through the Busan Asiad.
This ¡°Historical Union¡± is
meant to symbolize the unity
and hopes of the 3.6 billion
Asian people. |

CLOSING CEREMONY |

ceremony is ¡°Going Home.¡±
The Korean people want wish
everyone a safe and pleasant
journey back to their homelands.
The ceremony will also focus
on Busan as a well-known migratory
bird destination, a symbol of
safe and pleasant travels from
one destination to another. |
