The Busan Ilbo first put out on Sept. 10, 1946, has been the best-known local newspaper for the past 56 years. After a long period of maturation, The Busan Ilbo has been a major newspaper comparable to any other central ones since

its publication on Sept. 10. 1946, when it started with a four-paged tabloid. During the period of movement from Chungmu-dong to Jungang-dong, then to Soojeong-dong, The Busan Ilbo incoroported The Daejoong Newspaper in 1949 and The Kookje Daily News in 1980. With the increasing circulation and the need for mass-production mechanism, branshes were set up in Changwon, Ulsan and Jinju, and the 2nd Building in Geumjeong(1994), which enabled the three-station on-the-spot printion mechanism in Head Office, Geumjeong and Changwon.
